Gulf Coast Bonsai Expo 

Our post did not show the bonsai workshop schedule very well. The six Bonsai Workshop scheduled as shown below:

 

·         Friday, March 6, 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00

·         Saturday, March 7, 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00

·         Sunday, March 8, 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00

 

These bonsai workshops will be conducted so observers can view them like a bonsai lecture demonstration.  Enrique Castano is a world class bonsai expert teacher that can show you how to improve and care for your very best bonsai, or show you the best way to start a bonsai.  His profession is a biology research scientist and teacher.  This is something you don't want to miss.

  

 

24th Baton Rouge Spring Sale

March 6, 7, and 8, LSU is holding the 24th Baton Rouge Spring Sale at the LSU Parker Coliseum to raise money for scholarships, etc. and to give the regional nurseries and non-profit organizations an opportunity to introduce special plants and promote their business     

The Gulf Coast Bonsai Foundation and Louisiana Bonsai Society has been participating for years to promote the bonsai hobby.  This year the Gulf Coast Bonsai Foundation is going a step further by holding the first annual Gulf Coast Bonsai Expo in conjunction with the plant sale and garden show

 Bonsai Exhibit/Show – each Gulf Coast Bonsai Foundation member can enter one bonsai to be

displayed. To put a bonsai in the display, you must be a current member of the Gulf Coast

Bonsai Foundation and send a picture of the bonsai to be displayed to lowelltilley@gmail.com by

March 2. The display limit is 12 of the best bonsai. There will be three $100 prizes will be

awarded. Enrique Castano will be one of the judges and critique the exhibit.

 Bonsai Bring Your Own Tree Workshops conducted by Enrique Castano. Enrique is a world class bonsai teacher Limit of eight per bonsai for each workshop to be conducted in bonsai lecture demo style. Cost is $50 for Gulf Coast Bonsai Foundation members and $75 for non-members. Bonsai Workshop schedule is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00

Raffle tickets for five bonsai go on sale. The raffle is called "Five Draw Bonsai Raffle"

featuring five high-quality trees. We will sell exactly 100 tickets at $100 each,  Each ticket remains eligible for all five drawings, as winners are returned to the

hopper to maintain a 1 in 100 chance for every draw. To ensure transparency, we will use

numbered balls instead of paper tickets for the drawing. Groups of up to five people may also

split the cost of a single ticket. The drawing will take place during the Gulf Coast Bonsai Fall

Bonsai Sale in October or November.
